I would like to write 7 tips for preparing
for TOEIC listening and reading. Do you want to do a job you want to make use
of your English ability? The former consulting firm I worked is that employees
need getting 900 points of Toeic because it is the deciding factor assigning to
projects overseas. Certification of TOEIC Listening & Reading Test will be
very useful for your resume in Asian Countries. This test combines both reading
and listening tests.

What is TOEIC?;
TOEIC is an English test for international
communication. They test the ability to understand conversation, instruction
and conversation verbally in English. Please remember that there is no talking
part in the TOEIC listening and reading test. Also, it is not a pass / fail
test. If you just take a test, it becomes prominent among candidates
(applicants) who do not take it.
Format;
Multiple choice, pencil, paper
There are two sections;
The listening section (100 questions) and
the leading section (100 questions).
Length;
2 hours
*The listening section is 45 minutes and
the reading section is 75 minutes.
Score;
10 - 990
*In the leading part and the listening
part, they score 5 to 495 points respectively, and the two scores are totaled
to be the final score. Scores above 800 are medium high scores, but employers
are not necessarily searching for high scores depending on their duties.
Cost;
About 60-95 USD
*The cost of the exam varies depending on
the receiving country. Please contact your local test center.
Application method;
The organization that performs the test is
ETS (Educational examination service). For details of registration, please
contact your local test center. We recommend downloading the Examinee Handbook
for free and looking at other resources available on the website (eg practice
test).

This time, I will introduce seven hints
that I did also practice as an optimal preparation method to acquire a higher
score by TOEIC listening and reading from the experience that I became the
holder of 900 points of Toeic Test.
7 Steps to start from very basic practices

1. Measure the TOEIC level at the present
time
It is best to know the skill by trying the
same level of exam questions as the actual exams ETS officially put out. There
is also a free Toeic test site etc. online, but there is nothing better than
the official problem collection. Another source of information is TOEIC's
Facebook page. Since they publish tips on preparing tests with sample questions
and comments every week on the Facebook Page, I recommend that you check
frequently.
2. Get used to Toeic Test
In the course of study, the "practice
effect" repeated many times is actually scientificaly effective. If you do
something a second time compared to the first time, it will be better. Let's go
to the test and have a test again after a while to get a higher score. The good
thing about TOEIC can be received many times, the previous score does not
affect the latest one. Even elementary school, junior high school, high school,
the same as university entrance exam It is effective for doing as many
exercises as possible.
3. Make an environment that you can touch
English everyday
Most of the people who are receiving Toeic
tests is non-English speaking people. In fact, listening to and reading
languages different from your mother tongue is stressfully spiritual just
because you are not aware of it. For example, it is effective even if you can
practice anything in English on a daily basis. In fact, the first time I
studied in the United States, I remembered all the things in English, I learned
that the barriers to listening to English have disappeared considerably by
reading English sentences. In fact, even though the score of Toeic before
traveling to the United States was 650 points, but I got 850 points after
studying in the 2 months, I think that one reason is because I could get used
to English. For example, it's a good idea to see some drama in the U.S. or the
UK. For example, "Office" and "House of Cards" are always
featured business conversation, one of the recommended dramas, as actors
speaking very clearly are playing. Among the US / UK drama that I like, there
are the latest drama "24 Legacy", "Twenty-Four",
"Prison Break", "Lost", "Walking Dead",
"Grim" and so on. Also, I read magazines written in English even if I
read manga, I am trying to handle daily hobbies in English. Of course, not to
mention a blog in English notation. You will be able to listen to English radio
if you lose the sense of resistance to English and you can understand the
conversation without your favorite American television program / movie with no
subtitles. By this, I think that it will be close to the actual state of the
interview test (no image, sound only).
4. Know the intention of the creator of the
Toeic problem
Recognize that there is usually only one
correct answer, all other choices are wrong. The Toeic problem is created not
by a machine but by a person, and from a person's creation there is an
intention of a person who makes it in the course of producing an exam question.
What I would like to point out here is that certain instructions are issued to
problem creator from ETS. For the exam questions, it is necessary to adjust the
difficulty level for each question so that no one can get 999 points. In other
words, it is natural that it is thought that the difficulty level of all 200
questions is set for the exam question. The examination question of the
university is also the same, but in order to control the score, the question
maker creates a question by changing the difficulty level. If you know the
intention of the creator you can answer the question more easily.
5. Should not depend too much on my
dictionary
The examination time of TOEIC is limited.
Even if you are allowed to have a dictionary, I do not have enough time to find
out all the words. Instead, you need to be able to determine (understand) the
meaning of unknown words or phrases using context. I think that a dictionary
should be used when it cannot be judged from the context. There may be many
people who realize that, as it gets closer to the test day, the frequency of
use of the dictionary will be lower and lower. I have a word that I do not
understand, only in the case like the above, I am trying to find it on the net.
In order to memorize esoteric words, it is effective to memorize in context,
because it makes it possible to draw out memories from surrounding words. To
reduce the frequency of dictionary usage, in addition to the number of words
stored, the logical thinking ability to infer from the context is very useful.
A sentence is made up of several chunks and is generally written in the flow of
conclusion, introduction, contents introduction, digression, conclusion.
6. Should not be confused by English
pronunciation and tone
In the listening section, since there is no
body language or visual information, you will pay attention to two things:
pronunciation and tone. Tone is not the same as accent. Accents are the way
people speak from a particular place. The listening part randomly adopts people
speaking pronunciation in the United States, Australia, England, Canada. Also,
the tone causes a pitch change when someone is talking. The intention of
causing a mistake with a tone is not used, but it is used to express questions,
assertions, and denials. In other words, since the answer does not change with
pronunciation or tone, please do not be misled.
7. Speak up your conversation speed many
times and listen to English
When I am listening practice, I am trying
to hear the question voice at 1.5 times faster. Listening at double speed, you
will be able to hear the normal listening problem very slow. Also, the point to
be aware of in listening is to grasp the place, context, time and date, tense
of name and verb (or change of tense). It takes some time to be able to grasp
this easily. Be patient and listen to English conversations with different
accent to keep the score up. To familiarize yourself with different accents at
regular pace, check this website Transcribe me as well! In this site, audio
samples of different English accent are provided. I like to hear CNN's high
speed conversation of news program to get used to hear higher speed English.
